David holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (2006), an MSc in Molecular Biology (2011), and a Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine (2014) all obtained from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. David has over 15 years of experience in research, industry, and academia, the last seven of which have been in Postdoctoral Research and at a senior managerial level in Vaccine production. In academia, he was previously a Lecturer at Makerere University, a Senior Lecturer and Director of Postgraduate Studies and Research at Kampala International University, and a Senior Lecturer at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Sciences in Malawi.
He has previously worked on the Molecular Epidemiology of African swine fever a devastating disease to the pig industry. At TicVac, David participates in reviewing all TicVac-U lab designs, testing, and production protocols, ensuring compliance with quality control standards, government safety regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
Outside the TicVac-U project, David has also worked on various projects on Ticks and Tick-Borne Diseases in Africa and beyond especially on the East Coast Fever vaccine improvement and Molecular characterization of Theileria parva in none traditional vaccinating countries.
His current research interests are geared toward understanding the epidemiology and control of Transboundary Animal Diseases with a bias in molecular diagnostics, Molecular Epidemiology, and Vaccines.
He is a registered Veterinary Surgeon in Uganda and a Member of the Uganda Veterinary Association
